Last research day

Lizzy and Emily were back in Cambridge yesterday to work with Dr Malcolm Burrows one more time in his lab. We made 45 films of our recent finds in the waterways of Hackney using 1000 frames per second. We made some ‘Monster soup’ and filmed  the whole gang; Daphnia, mosquito larva and pupa, an unidentified wiggler, and a splendid Water Mite and leech all in the mix. The films look amazing!

Marina took this wonderful and slightly itchy photographs of our East End Mosquito larvae with their tails sticking to the meniscus of the water as they take some air.

We are editing and scanning furiously to bring the Water Folk film to the Launch of the Floating Cinema at the end of this month.DSC_9747DSC_9743
