Midge larvae & pipsy shrimp

Emily and I have enjoyed a very productive second day with Malcolm Burrows in his lab in Cambridge.  Here are some particularly evocative photos taken through the microscope.  I quite liked the ones that got away and the shadows they left behind.  We’ve also taken a lot of high speed films of the small creatures that we have been collecting from the Regent’s Canal, with the microscope.  The bugs are enduring our less than nimble handling of them, going in and out of fridges, on and off the trains and Malcolm is very patient too!06Jun13 Soup S2 x7105 06Jun13 Soup S2 x711206Jun13 Shrimp Larva S1 x125 07
