Water Folk: Launched!

Water Folk are official! Yesterday we had a great day at WaterWorks Nature Reserve meeting each other and starting the process of exploring East End water. Ray’s Geezers, Sharp End members and Gayhurst Community School, Class 4J were on top form. We listened to Professor Malcolm Burrows explain a little about his research and watched some of his astounding super slowed down films of speedy swimming and jumping bugs. Then we went out into the sunshine to do some dipping of our own. We found a great variety of snails, shrimp, larvae of different kind, Water boatman, mites and a few we aren’t sure of yet.

Next week we are looking forward to taking  Narrow boats up the Regents Canal to research and explore further by recording sound underwater with Tim Olden.
